SugarBakers Cakes

My husband and I recently married, each for the third time. We'd had to big traditional wedding and were more interested in keeping costs reasonable than in a spare-no-expense wedding. So Sugarbakers helped us plan what turned out to be a delicious and beautiful wedding cake for a lot less than a traditional wedding cake. Ours was a sheet cake to feed 100 people with some gorgeous decoration in white and red. We chose their signature cake, an almond cake with Frangelico cream and raspberry filings and German buttercream frosting. The sides were decorated with a red "ribbon" along the bottom and red curly cues. The top had an enormous red sugar bow on one side and a huge monogram with both our initials on either side of the initial of our last name. Our guests raved about the cake, and it cost us less than $300. Good going, Sugarbakers!

We ordered two cakes from Sugarbakers; wedding cake and grooms cake. Both were phenomenal. The wedding cake received compliments from EVERYONE at the wedding, they couldnt believe how delicious the cake was. And, it was decorated exactly as we asked. Their customer service is fantastic, not one hitch along the way. The grooms cake was an Xbox controller. They did an AMAZING job with making it look exactly like the controller. Tasted amazing. People were in awe the whole night.We will definitely use Sugarbakers in the future.

Delicious!! We ordered Strawberry breeze and then sent a picture of what we wanted the outside of the cake to look like and it was EXACT!!!!

I was not disappointed! Their cakes are delicious!!! The almond raspberry buttercream is amazing & the design was flawless. The only problem is they didn't have a cake stand for the cake unless it was rented for $50 and they that was not mentioned til the day before the wedding. I have since ordered cakes from them and everyone loved the cake.

My husband and I LOVED our cake! Our initial consultation was great- super friendly, was seasoned, understood what we wanted right away! All the cake flavors were so yummy and hard to pick.... We ended up with vanilla cream and heath bar. It was absolutely delicious. Our guests are still talking about how wonderful our cake was! We cannot wait to have it again on our one year anniversary! The cake design was EXACTLY what we discussed early on. The shop itself is super cute and quaint and welcoming. We would definitely recommend SugarBakers!!

We had the raspberry amaretto cake and it was delicious. Everyone wanted a second piece of cake because it was so good. The design on the cake was beautiful and it was delicious. Highly recommend SugarBakers cake!!

One of the venues my husband and I originally looked at for our wedding included a cake from SugarBakers, but we didn't go along with that venue and had to find a cake vendor on our own. After talking with a friend and looking at the reviews on Yelp, we decided to give SugarBakers a try. We scheduled a tasting and we were told that we could have four people there (no children) and that it would last about an hour. We arrived with a friend and a lady seated us in a tiny room with a small table and a few chairs with cake models on display everywhere. There was another couple in the room doing their tasting and as our lady prepared for ours, we watched them and looked around at all the different designs that were on display. She brought out a plate with twelve different cake flavors and three different types of icing. The three of us took a a bite of each flavor and every single one was super delicious and moist. We decided on two flavors: lemon mousse and chocolate decadence. We decided on two cakes for our reception of 100 guests, one for show and a sheet cake for the back. We looked at a picture album full of cake designs and bookmarked the ones we liked. After reviewing our bookmarks, we had narrowed the down the design we wanted on our cake. Since our colors were purple and yellow, we decided on a two tier cake with buttercream frosting and purple ribbon icing around the bottom layers with yellow dots above the ribbon. We were given a quote for the cake and it was much cheaper than I expected it to be. We left the bakery and after talking it over with my mother, we decided this would be the vendor for our wedding cake. We mailed in a check for the full amount along with the signed contract. My only complaint is that we never received a call or confirmation that they received the check. After two weeks, I called to make sure they did in fact receive the check and that we were going to be receiving our cake from them. I also decided to change the two cakes (one sheet cake, one two tier cake) to just one cake with three tiers. This went from feeding 100 to 75, but we knew that not everyone was going to eat the cake. To change this, the price also went up about $75, but we were willing to pay. The week of the wedding, our venue called all of our vendors to make delivery arrangements so we wouldn't have to stress over that. On our wedding night, we saw our beautifully decorated cake (cake topper was our own) on display for everyone to see. We received so many compliments on the look and taste of the cake. My husband and I were so busy at the reception that we didn't have time to enjoy a whole slice of cake so I can't wait to get our free one year anniversary cake!

On very short notice SugarBakers accommodated my daughter's wedding. Their Wedding planner was gracious and helpful, and the wedding cake absolutely beautful on top of being delicious. Thank you SugarBaker's for making my daughter's wedding day special! v/r, Jones/Martin family.

SugarBakers was a dream to work with! I had drawn up an elaborate design of Indian-inspired flowers and animals to have decorating the cake, and where most vendors would have thought I was nuts, SugarBakers embraced the project with gusto. The result was a breathtaking cake that not only perfectly captured our vision, but that thrilled everyone who saw (and tasted) it. We went with 4 tiers of Smith Island and Dulce de Leche, and I know more than a few guests (and one bride) who went back for seconds). Perhaps a bit pricey, but given the depth and scope of the project worth every penny.

I highly recommend SugarBakers Cakes. They provided the main wedding cake, groom's cake and assorted mini desserts for my daughters wedding. They were extremely flexible and redesigned the wedding cake several times to meet our changing needs and price senstivity. In the end, the cakes were not only creative and beautiful but were so delicious!!! I know whenever I get a chance to be near the bakery, I will certainly make a special trip to stop and purchase one of the many delicious desserts! Ashley, our cake designer is amazing!! She listened attentively and miraculously took the couple's idea of a "starry night" night theme and provided a beautiful and elegant cake!

I am writing this review solely for SugarBakers Cakes, even though the cake was actually arranged through our caterer. My less-than-5 star review for Catering By Uptown will be listed separately. First let me say that the cake was DELICIOUS! We ordered the toasted coconut and the Smith Island and both were scrumptious. (I wish I'd had more than just one bite at the reception!) The cake was moist, the icing was perfect (not too sugary sweet), and it was well constructed.Unfortunately, it was not the cake design I had requested (again, remember this was NOT Sugarbakers' mistake - it was the caterer who ordered it incorrectly). Fortunately, I was an older bride and something as insignificant as a wrong cake design was not going to spoil my wedding day. BUT, a younger bride, who expects everything to be absolutely perfect, might have had a meltdown over this mistake. So, the moral of the story ... if your wedding cake is included with the cost of your caterer, insist on dealing with cake bakery directly. Don't trust a middle man to get the details right.We loved the cake so much that we ate the top tier the night after our wedding! Besides, I believe Sugarbakers provides you with a fresh top tier identical to your wedding cake on your first anniversary. A nice touch, I think. :)

Sugarbakers did a great job with our cake. They worked with me to put into reality what I wanted my cake to look like. I hate fondant but wanted the smooth look with the icing. They did a great job making this cake look like a work of art, even with just buttercream!They also have amazing flavors that it was so hard to chose. We went with the Red Velvet and Amaretto Cake and have no regrets. I had a lot of people who say they have never had a good wedding cake before come up and tell me it was the best cake they ever had! My husband and I totally agree and can't wait for a little less than a year from now we we get to eat our fresh, complimentary, cake top, made especially for any couple who uses Sugarbakers for their 1st Anniversary!

SugarBakers cakes are absolutely delicious. The amaretto raspberry is my absolute favorite flavor. In addition to taste, SugarBaker's cake designs turn out perfect. They give you a chance to sit down and design your cake with them. As an added bonus, they will give you a complimentary mini cake on your 1 year wedding anniversary so that you do not have to freeze the top layer of your cake!

SugarBakers provided us with the most beautiful and delicious wedding cake! I can not thank them enough for the beautiful detailing they provided on our cake along with sugar work! They are an outstanding company and would recommend them to everyone!

This is the best cake ever!! So many choices but delish!!! We had the almond with raspberry and ameretto buttercream as our cutting layer and then the middle and top was toasted coconut. We ate the rest of the leftovers about 2 weeks after the wedding and the taste was still as it was on our wedding day. We can't wait to get a small cake for us for our one year anniversary. Top Notch Bakers!!!!!!

We used Sugarbakers for our wedding cake and were so impressed! They were professional and very reasonably priced. Our wedding cake turned out perfectly. Our cake was simple in design...just three tiered with fresh flowers. The groom's cake was great too. We had an idea that was kind of different and they executed it perfectly. The cake itself is moist and very flavorful. We would definitely recommend Sugarbakers to anyone in the MD/DC/VA area.
